Traditions and Customs

Traditions, cultures, and customs are important in every society.  In Stilatial Galaxy, they play a profound role in life just as they would anywhere else.

The traditions and customs of Zanthor are the strongest though.  While the other planets have them, I am mainly going to focus on those of Zanthor since they are so strong and so profound.  The following is a list of some of the traditions and cultures of Zanthor.  These traditions are followed very percisely and strickly and are the basis of Zanthor's society.

1. When two babies of opposite sex are born on the same day, they are automatically betrothed to one day marry one another.  Since the Zanthorian race naturally develops to maturity at an earlier age than Earthlings and Avenions do, this means that a couple betrothed from birth could marry as early as 12 or 13.  This is to ensure a better chance of the family's survival since the environment of Zanthor is so harsh, babies could die very easily, and the more children the parents are able to have, the broader their chances of building a promising posterity.  If a child is born on a day that no other child is born on, they can either choose not to marry or marry someone with a birth date close to theirs.

2. After birth, baby boys are not circumcized.  And... I don't really know why that is... They want to be as natural and as "unaffected" by outside means as possible.  So yeah... there ya go! ^^;

3. When a couple is getting married, the groom recites vows that state that he will abide to his wife and love her and only her for time and all eternity.  The bride then can either accept or decline what he has said and agree to them or disagree.  On Zanthor, they definitely don't beleive in devorce, every couple is a match made in heaven.

4. The first born child of every family gets a glorious birth right that will one day allow him or her to inherite much of their family's wealth and posessions.  They are also responsible for tending other family members and living up to their expectations.

5. On Zanthor, hunting is a way of life.  A common tradition is for everyone in the family to once a month go out and hunt with special weapons made out of the beautiful crystals that are so rich on Zanthor and find whatever they will need for the next month.  They do not take more than they will need and are always thankful1 for everything they receive.
